| Laura Umansky is an interior designer who brings her signature aesthetic to luxury international residences, fashion-forward hospitality interiors, and high-style corporate offices. Her classic architectural education and international design experience are channeled into each and every design decision. As a trend-setter in interior design, Laura Umansky has been widely recognized by her industry and by the press. Over the last three years, Umansky has been honored by the interior design industry through four design awards and six honorable mention awards for her interiors (American Society of Interior Designers TGCC). She has participated in peer discussion panels, given talks about design trend, and been interviewed regarding her design aesthetic and career. Most recently she was named one of Houston Business Journal’s Top 40 Business Leaders Under 40.
Umansky’s eponymous retail boutique, the Laura U Collection, is an extension of her design style. She loves to bring her favorite finds for the home to designers and savvy home-owners alike. The boutique was recognized as the top location in Lower Westheimer by Texas Monthly magazine (January 2010) and is often cited as the go-to shop for fabulous pieces for the home. Her designs have also been featured and praised in numerous magazines both locally and regionally.
Currently Umansky is designing luxury residences throughout the US and bringing new hospitality concepts to life. She is planning the expansion of the Laura U Collection, which will be unveiled in the Spring of 2011.
Umansky received her MArch from the University of Houston and her BA from the University of Texas (Austin). She is an Allied Member of ASID, an Associate member of AIA (American Institute of Architects), and an Associate member of IIDA (International Interior Designers Association). She currently lives in Houston, Texas.
